What is STRLUS?
The Southern Tasmania Regional Land Use Strategy (STRLUS) is a plan to manage how land is used and developed in Southern Tasmania over the next 25 years. It helps guide growth and change in the region.
Who’s doing the review?
The review is a collaborative work between the twelve Councils of the Southern Region and with the Tasmanian Government.
Which areas does the STRLUS cover?
STRLUS covers these local government areas:
- Brighton
- Central Highlands
- Clarence
- Derwent Valley
- Glamorgan Spring-Bay
- Glenorchy
- Hobart
- Huon Valley
- Kingborough
- Sorell
- Southern Midlands
- Tasman
How do I get involved?
You can get involved by visiting shapingtasmania.com.au. Here, you’ll find the draft STRLUS, and relevant background reports and documents.
Submissions are open until 22 February 2026.

The Council undertakes to make available through its Community Noticeboards a range of information which recognises the needs of a diverse community and which fosters community participation.
