Tourism Tasmania - Applications open for COVID-19 Business Impact Support Program

Round three of the COVID-19 Business Impact Support Program are now open, with small businesses able to apply for grants from $1,000 to $10,000. 
Round three of the program is targeted at assisting businesses that experienced trading losses or reduced customer demand due to COVID-19 for the period of 15 February 2022 to 14 March 2022.  
Payments of between $1,000 and $5,000 are also available to businesses that experienced an unavoidable loss of perishable goods because they had to close for seven days or more.  
To be eligible for the program a business must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan, a completed risk assessment in place and, where required, a COVID-19 Case and Outbreak Management Plan.  
Businesses that received assistance through the first two rounds of the program may still be eligible to apply under round three. 
Applications close 2:00 pm, Tuesday 5 April 2022.

Media Release - New completion date for the Oatlands Aquatic Centre

There is a revised completion date of around the end of July for the new Oatlands Aquatic Centre. 

The General Manager, Tim Kirkwood, says the extra time is needed as a result of impacts from COVID 19 as well as a minor issue to do with the concrete finish in the main pool. 

The community will be updated on the official opening date as soon as critical milestones are reached in coming weeks.

Owners & occupiers of properties in the Southern Midlands Municipality are reminded with the fire season fast approaching it is now time to assess your property & clear any potential fire hazards.

Inspections of properties are underway, and where considered necessary, Fire Abatements Notices will be issued for the clearing of the fire hazards in accordance with the Local Government 1993.

Waste Management Reminder unapproved materials

Council would like to remind all residents/ratepayers on the roadside collection service that ordinary waste and unapproved materials must not be placed in your yellow lid recycling bin. This includes food scraps, timbers, nappies, organic matter, plastic bags or hazardous materials etc. Please do not tie recyclables together with string or twine. Please do not place your recyclables in plastic bags.
