Collections
The Catalogue for the Southern Midlands Council (SMC) Collections is now online.
The catalogue has two main collecting sectors:
Heritage
All material relating to the Southern Midlands Council, its heritage buildings and programs. This collection includes:
- Photographic and art works, including from the Artist in Residence at AiRSpace program
- Objects
- Documents, ephemera and memorabilia
- Record numbers begin ‘SMCH’
Archaeology
Artefacts from the SMC Archaeology Program, which has undertaken a number of digs around the Southern Midlands region and actively continues.
- Record numbers begin ‘SMCA’
To make the catalogue accessible online, all records from the original MS Access database were migrated to a new relational database based on SQL. in 2023. Many new catalogue records and images have been added in the new Collection Management System since then. Ongoing data enrichment and quality work is undertaken as part of the process. The National Library of Australia TROVE site also harvests the SMC catalogue data.
