Enforcement of Illegal Works

Council treats work without a permit very seriously and should you carry out works which a permit is required Council will take enforcement action against you.

Even though you have carried out work without a permit you will still be given an option to obtain the required approvals, however the fees for these approvals are twice the normal approval fees. Therefore you are encouraged to obtain the relevant permit before starting work.

Too often owners put themselves under unnecessary discomfort when a property is being sold and it is found that there are works on site which require a building permit from Council, it may even jeopardize your property sale.

Should you have carried out works on your property without a permit it is suggested that you approach Council to see if these works can be legalised.
