
Brad Williams is Council's Heritage Project Officer who undertakes planning, promotion and implementation of Heritage Projects within the Southern Midlands area. The focus being on conservation and promotion of Council owned heritage assets and the historic cultural heritage of the Southern Midlands municipal region.

Oatlands Gaol: Following Council's recent endorsement of the Oatlands Gaol Conservation Management Plan 2006, work has commenced on urgent remedial works to the Gaoler's Residence. This work is expected to be completed over the next 12 months, and will address critical structure issues in the roof and upper floor of the building.

Oatlands Court House: Funding has been secured through the Tasmanian Community Fund to implement the Oatlands Supreme Court House Public Access and Interpretation Plan. Over the next 12 months, the first stages of that plan will be implemented, with the aim of creating a centre for the interpretation of the building and key heritage themes which it represents.

Heritage collections: Council has recently endorsed a heritage collections policy, in order to manage and preserve the extensive holdings of historic material across Council owned sites. Work is to commence on a series of procedures manuals in order to implement the policy.
